Ostim Rubber Technologies Cluster Cluster Introduction and Projects/Opportunities Information Meeting - June 25, 2013
OSTİM Rubber Technologies Cluster provided information about its work and goals to industrialists and academics at a "Cluster Introduction and Projects/Opportunities Information Meeting".
The program was attended by Çankaya University Rector Prof. Dr. Ziya Burhanettin Güvenç, OSTİM Board Chairman Orhan Aydın, TÜBİTAK Technology and Innovation Support Programs President Fatih Yülek, KOSGEB OSTİM Service Center Manager Mehmet Tezyetiş, officials from the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, officials from the Ankara Development Agency, as well as industrialists and academics.
In his opening speech, Çankaya University Rector Prof. Dr. Ziya Burhanettin Güvenç stated that for the cluster to succeed and develop, all the actors comprising the cluster must trust each other and possess a culture of cooperation.
Prof. Dr. Ziya Burhanettin Güvenç, Rector of Çankaya University, who has pioneered institutional efforts in our country to promote clusters, noted that clustering is the formation that will protect SMEs against the technological onslaught. Stating that the Rubber Cluster has passed an important stage by becoming an association, Güvenç said, “They are now in a position to easily submit projects to various government institutions. For the cluster to succeed, develop, and be competitive, all the actors forming the cluster need to trust each other. The firms in the cluster must have a culture of cooperation in a competitive environment, trusting each other.”
Mustafa Korkmaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Rubber Technologies Cluster, stated that they are working to produce the best products. He noted that they are continuing on their path with faith with 64 companies, adding that they have completed the association process and have quickly reached the URGE (Regional Innovation and Development) stage. Chairman Korkmaz said, "We are like the gears of a clock; the goal of these gears, big and small, is to move forward."
OSTİM Board Chairman Orhan Aydın also drew attention to the quality aspect of domestic products. Pointing out that manufacturers need to prioritize quality to gain a competitive advantage against foreign brands, Aydın emphasized that clustering is key to the future survival of companies. Aydın stated that it is important for research at universities to continue in a way that benefits industrialists.
Following this, Cluster Coordinator Cenk Çınarbaş gave a presentation to provide information about the cluster's activities and the International Competitiveness Development Project that is currently being prepared.
The program then concluded with a cocktail reception attended by all the guests.
