During her visit to OSTİM, Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam exchanged views with Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Board of Directors, on increasing trade volumes and establishing economic systems among D-8 countries.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of understanding between the D-8 General Secretariat and OSTİM (Osmaniye Exporters Association) to develop cooperation in many areas, primarily including industrial zone establishment, technology development, and training.
“Let’s create a collaboration network”
Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Board of Directors, pointed out that global developments, wars, and injustices necessitate a better understanding of the founding philosophy of the D-8.
Aydın pointed out that the current prevailing order has made the world unlivable, and noted that thanks to the D-8, a system can be built that will make the world livable by cooperating and joining forces.
Emphasizing that OSTİM is one of the most effective institutions that can cooperate with D-8, President Aydın suggested that a platform similar to the European Union's Enterprise Network be established among D-8 members. Aydın said, "OSTİM had previously developed software for cooperation among SMEs of D-8 countries. Let's pair OSTİM institutions with an Organized Industrial Zone, a university, and a technopark in each of the D-8 countries and create a cooperation network."
OSTİM is a solution partner of D-8
Orhan Aydın, noting that the practices in OSTİM serve as prototypes for developing countries, said, “The practices here are prototypes; they can be applied to developing countries. We are carrying out the activities that are the aim of D-8. If we proceed through the institutional structure of D-8, we can spread these practices to all members. D-8 can use all our infrastructure. We are ready to work on any project that Islamic countries need. The Secretary-General has a great deal of responsibility, and we are here as a solution partner to facilitate his work.”
“OSTIM is a priority in collaboration”
D-8 Secretary General Ambassador Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam stated that the main goal of the D-8 is to increase economic and trade cooperation and capacities among its members, and to enable them to develop more trade together.
Expressing his admiration for OSTİM's capabilities, the Secretary General stated, "The D-8 countries have a trade volume of $145 billion. We are talking about a population of 1.3 billion. I believe OSTİM can be a priority region in terms of transferring both experience and technology to SMEs in other countries. We can use the advantages of technology development to help other SMEs develop as well. I see OSTİM as a priority area and a region for technology sharing."
Isiaka Abdulqadir Imam explained that they aim to increase the trade volume among D-8 countries to $500 billion by 2030, and that they are making trade agreements among members to achieve this.
The Secretary-General, stating that the Bangladeshi government has allocated land to D-8, said, “We can implement the OSTİM model there. We can establish the OSTİM model in all D-8 member countries. After all, we are talking about a market worth $145 billion. I recommend that Turkish firms also take part in regions like those that will be established in this market, similar to the OSTİM model. If Turkish businesspeople also take part there, they will become stronger in such a large market, and their collaborations will increase.”
