EMGE A.Ş., operating in OSTİM as an approved supplier to major industrial companies, primarily in the defense, aerospace, and electronics sectors, continues its investments to develop its value-added domestic and national production capacity.
The company has started investing in a facility covering 21,155 square meters in HAB. The facility, which will have 17,500 square meters of enclosed space, will produce high value-added products for the defense and aerospace industry. The facility is targeted to become operational in the spring of 2021. EMGE will continue its production activities in the energy sector in OSTİM.
Construction of the facility, which will increase production and employment, began with a groundbreaking ceremony. The ceremony was attended by the Deputy Head of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey's Defence Industry Directorate, Dr. Celal Sami Tüfekci, the President of the Ankara Chamber of Industry, Nurettin Özdebir, the Chairman of the OSTİM Board of Directors, Orhan Aydın, the Vice Chairman of the OSTİM Board of Directors, Sıtkı Öztuna, board members; Yaşar Özelge, Süleyman Eser, Mehmet Alkan, Regional Manager Adem Arıcı, External Relations Coordinator Hamza Akca, and numerous guests.
EMGE A.Ş. Chairman of the Board Mithat Ertuğ emphasized the company's nearly half-century-long history. Ertuğ stated, "On this path we have been treading for over 45 years, today we are laying the foundation for our company's third major investment. May God grant us the opportunity to complete the construction successfully and to welcome you to our opening ceremony."
Grew up in OSTİM
OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın expressed his hope that the groundbreaking ceremony would be an opportunity for the Ertuğ family to provide beneficial services to the country, the nation, and Ankara.
Aydın, noting that EMGE is a family company integrated with industry, said, “The Ertuğ family is deeply connected to industry; even Mithat Bey's grandson works at the company. It's a very successful company. It laid its foundations in OSTİM and grew in OSTİM. We are bidding farewell to the region like sending off a bride, but we cannot let its core structure go anywhere else from OSTİM. It is very important for us that it continues its operations in OSTİM. At the same time, Mithat Bey made very significant contributions to the defense industry sector. He even contributed to the initial design of this region.”
Ankara's crazy project
Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) Chairman Nurettin Özdebir pointed out that industrialism is a job done with soul. Özdebir said, “Being able to contribute to the defense of the country is an extremely great blessing. Industrialism is an arduous path. But I believe that being able to serve people and the country is extremely important.”
Özdebir, reminding that HAB is one of the ambitious projects proposed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for Ankara, continued his speech as follows: “We will put this place into operation as a model Organized Industrial Zone as soon as possible. Ankara's technological level is incomparably different from other provinces. Today, Ankara produces 17% of the high-tech products manufactured in our country and 20% of the high-tech product exports. In this sense, Ankara's technological level is extremely important. I have endless respect for you who are tasked with production, and I congratulate you all. May the EMGE family have a bright future and abundant prosperity.”
“Join forces”
Dr. Celal Sami Tüfekci, Deputy Head of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey's Defense Industry Directorate, emphasized the importance of cooperation and collaboration. Stating that environments conducive to cooperation are necessary and that HAB OSB (Hatay Organized Industrial Zone) provides an environment that will allow the driving force of the defense industry to spread to other sectors, Tüfekci said, “That's how I see HAB OSB. We want to see companies here that have become a critical mass, that are known for the technologies they produce, and that create high value-added products. That is the main purpose of HAB OSB.”
Congratulating EMGE as the 24th company to lay the foundation of HAB, Tüfekci said, “We will have many companies here. Join forces, think big. Don't just think about taking on one small project, but think about how Turkey is turning into a major production center and that everyone has a share here.”
