The visiting minister, accompanied by Gambia's Ambassador to Ankara, Landing Kinteh, and other officials, visited OSTİM and stated that Turkey has been a very good friend of Gambia for many years, saying, "We share common goals and culture. We are open to cooperation with you in many areas. We came to OSTİM because of its high standards. We know that people here pay attention to details and value high quality and sustainability."
Dr. Ahmadou Lamin Samateh met with OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın, OSTİM Medical Industry Cluster Chairman Fatin Dağçınar, and other board members at OSTİM.

OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın noted that 6,200 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region produce goods in 17 main sectors and 139 different business lines. Underlining that OSTİM is a production zone where all the components for building a city are present, Aydın stated: “As a region, we are also trying to develop our relations with African countries. We are striving to develop business with Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Nigeria, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Ghana, and many other countries. We are also ready to create all kinds of cooperation opportunities to develop good relations with Gambia. Our region has main sectors such as medical, construction and industrial machinery, rubber, energy, rail systems, communication technologies, defense, and aerospace.”

“May our hospitals be like yours”
We want our hospitals to be like yours. We know that hospital construction is a difficult job. We still have hospitals with very basic windows and structures. We want hospitals like yours. We want hospitals with complete connectivity, networks, and established systems. We need to work hard for this. We know that we need to connect with important people like you. We also need qualified engineers to work in hospitals there and people to provide training. When we purchase products from here, we also need a team that can fly here from Turkey immediately to provide support if an alarm arises. That's why we are here.”
“Gambian youth should study in Turkey”
Fatin Dağçınar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM Medical Industry Cluster, emphasized that cluster members produce high-quality products and export them to many countries around the world. Stating that the cluster could supply investments to the Gambian government, Dağçınar added that Gambian youth could receive education in biomedical engineering faculties in Turkey.
