OSTİMSPOR competes in 7 amateur leagues with a strong infrastructure. Last season, the U17 team won the championship, and the U15 team finished third. The club's priority is to develop sportsmanlike athletes.
OSTİMSPOR, which competes on the green fields with over 250 athletes in 7 groups, primarily aims to raise ethical and well-mannered athletes. OSTİMSPOR has teams in the U19, U17, U16, U14, U13, U12, and U11 age groups in its youth system. This season, its U17 team became champions, and its U15 team finished the season in third place.
“Sportsmanship is what matters”
OSTİMSPOR Youth Academy Technical Director Hameş Şentürk stated that their primary goal is to raise athletes to be ethical and well-mannered, and then to train them to become successful athletes.
Providing information about the teams, Şentürk stated, “Currently, our U19 team is in second place in its group. Our U17 team became champions in the completed groups. Our U15 team finished third this season. There are 25 players in the U19 team. We included the champion U17 team in the U19 squad. We have the youngest U19 team playing in Ankara.”
The coach stated that their priority is their studies, and mentioned that they also reward athletes who excel in their studies. Şentürk commented, “Our goal is for them to be successful in their studies. Beyond that, we tell our athletes that football is a social activity, and that winning and losing aren't everything. What's important is that they compete fairly and sportsmanlike on the field. And that they congratulate their opponents when they lose.”
Şentürk, noting that the athletes in the club consist of children of businessmen from OSTİM and families living in the region, said, “If an apprentice working in the region is within the 14, 15, 16, and 17 age groups, we accept them into our team. The U13 group includes children of OSTİM businessmen. If there is a working group, our training sessions are after 5 PM.”
Şentürk, who strongly advises young people to participate in sports, continued: “Integrating into society, interacting with the community, meeting different people… These are very important. My biggest advice to young people is to participate in sports. This could be various sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, or swimming.”
The experienced coach emphasized that the club's youth academy is highly developed and stated that their goal is to make OSTİMSPOR a model team in Ankara.
