Beginning his speech by describing the work being carried out in OSTİM, Aydın emphasized the global importance of design and advised engineering students to advance in their design skills. Orhan Aydın stated, “90% of the population consists of workers, 9% of producers, and 1% of designers. If you look at the distribution of income, this is completely reversed. The 1% who design—those who put their minds, knowledge, and engineering into it—are the ones who win. Those who produce get a small share of this; they are the ones who do what someone else has drawn and designed. This is not enough, and no added value comes from it. We need to be able to ‘design.’ We must definitely improve our design skills.”
"We want engineers with self-confidence," President Aydın continued, adding: "We want engineers who will pick up a pen and paper and say, 'I can design this engine too,' engineers with self-confidence. We absolutely need to gain the confidence that 'we can do this, we can do it better than them.'"
Providing information about clustering initiatives, Aydın said, “Production is indispensable for us. We do not agree with the idea that ‘we can feed ourselves and develop our country by building things, even if we don’t produce anything.’ Our professors at the university have a great responsibility in this matter.”
Mahir Tosun, Technical Manager of Küçükpazarlı Aviation Inc., a member of the OSTİM Defense and Aviation Cluster (OSSA), was also one of the speakers at the conference and provided information about developments in the sector and production techniques.
Following the event, plaques were presented to the guests. OSTİM Board Chairman Orhan Aydın, OSTİM Board Member Behzat Zeydan, former Dean of Kırıkkale University Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Veli Çelik, and Küçükpazarlı Aviation Inc. Technical Manager Mahir Tosun took a commemorative photo with the student members of the community.
