OSTİM Construction and Industrial Machinery Cluster (İŞİM) participated in the 31st International Construction Machinery, Construction Materials Machinery, Construction Vehicles and Mining Machinery Trade Fair Bauma Munich, one of the world's largest organizations in the sector, with 16 companies. İŞİM companies, who went to Munich as part of the URGE project, held over 1,000 business meetings.
The Bauma trade fair, held every three years in Munich, Germany, opened its doors from April 11-17, 2016. Spanning a total area of 605,000 m², the fair featured 3,423 exhibitors from 58 countries. Showcasing leading global players, the fair attracted approximately 580,000 visitors from 200 countries.
Since its establishment, İŞİM, which has made significant contributions to its members and successfully completed two URGE projects, is rapidly continuing its activities for the 3rd URGE project. Within the scope of the project supported by the Turkish Ministry of Economy, the cluster was at Bauma between April 13-16, 2016. İŞİM, which went to Munich with a delegation of 33 people from 16 companies, examined the latest developments in the sector and explored potential trade channels. During their four-day intensive program, the companies held over 1,000 pre-planned business meetings. Some members signed contracts upon their return from the fair.
İŞİM began its German activities with a special presentation and information meeting for the cluster by Dr. Wolf Dietrich Müller, Chairman of the Board of Messe München GmbH. Müller gave a presentation and provided information specifically for the cluster. The program, which included a special welcome ceremony for the İŞİM Trade Delegation by the trade fair organizer Messe Munich, provided detailed information about Bauma.
Consul General of Munich Mesut Koç, Commercial Attaché of Munich İsmet Salihoğlu, executives from OSTİM, İŞİM, MÜSİAD, and İMDER, the Liebherr Austria Team Leader, and representatives from various companies came together at a dinner organized to network and develop cooperation. The German market and current situation were discussed at the event.
Steps towards cooperation with MÜSİAD
The İŞİM delegation included a meeting with the MÜSİAD Munich representative office in its program. A meeting was held at the MÜSİAD Munich office with the participation of MÜSİAD Munich Deputy Chairman Nebi Alp, Board Member Sait Yüksek, Munich-based businesspeople and association members, as well as the Munich Consul and the Deputy Commercial Attaché. Important details regarding the market were obtained from the Turkish businesspeople, and steps were taken towards mutual cooperation.
On the last day of the fair, a plaque ceremony was held at the outdoor stand of MEKA Concrete Batching Plants, a member of İŞİM (Turkish Confederation of Industrialists and Businessmen), with the Consul General of Munich, the Consul, and three Attachés. During the ceremony, information about the sector and the market was received from the officials. (Fevzi Gökalp-Esma Akyüz)

OPINIONS
Companies that followed the important forums throughout the fair emphasized that the fair was very dynamic and facilitated fruitful collaborations.
Bilal Mermer-Mersan Metal: We had meetings with several companies at the fair we visited. Some of these were pre-planned, and we also had the opportunity to meet with representatives of newly established companies.
Ayşe Saraçoğlu-Set Makine: Thanks to the organization of the İŞİM Cluster, we had the opportunity to visit the fair in a planned and disciplined manner and to hold bilateral meetings with many companies. We thank the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Turkey and the İŞİM Cluster Coordination for providing this opportunity.
Ömer Ünsal-Ünsal Damper: Witnessing all this activity firsthand with İŞİM, observing companies that are pushing the boundaries in their field, and having the opportunity to meet with them one-on-one was a unique experience.
Necati Dayı-Pi Makina: Being able to see the world's largest construction machinery manufacturers and companies under one roof, examining their latest products, and comparing them with each other is a great opportunity. I believe that our visit to Bauma, which we organized with İŞİM, will increase business potential and various business opportunities for our participating companies.
Halide Rasim-Rasim Makina: Bauma is a very productive event for us, where we can obtain information about industry developments, new designs, renewed manufacturing technologies, and market data. Both the bilateral business meetings held at the fair and our meetings with Munich MÜSİAD and the Commercial Attaché, where we gained information about the Munich market, were recorded as the first positive results of the trip.
