PROTA Technology Production Workshop, established in the Orange Building of Ostim Technopark and supported by the European Union Financial Assistance Programs administered by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, has been opened to serve technology producers.
At the opening ceremony, which was attended by the Minister of Industry and Technology Fatih Kacır, the performance of the 14-axis robot at PROTA received full marks from the participants. A block produced on the metal 3D printer in the workshop was presented to Minister Kacır by the robot.
“We work to support entrepreneurship and innovation”
Ostim Technopark General Manager Dr. Derya Çağlar provided information about the technopark and the PROTA Technology Production Workshop. Çağlar noted that as a beneficiary of the IPA II 2014-2020 Competitiveness and Innovation Sector Operational Program, jointly financed by Turkey and the European Union, they are using the resources obtained from this program in the most rational and efficient way.
Stating that Ostim Technopark, primarily targeting companies located in the OSTİM region, works tirelessly to support and develop the entrepreneurship and innovation environment in Ankara and throughout the country, Çağlar said, “PROTA Technology Production Workshop, operating precisely from this mission, aims to increase the competitiveness of SMEs and entrepreneurs in the market by providing the necessary machinery and equipment, preventing unnecessary machine purchases, ensuring the sustainability of their financial resources, and improving their capacities through services such as training and mentoring.”
“Projects and dreams will be brought to life here.”
Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM and Ostim Teknopark A.Ş., stated that they envision Ostim Teknopark as a complement to the OSTİM ecosystem and have developed a different concept than other technoparks in Turkey. Aydın said, “It is not just a technopark where offices and designs are located; we have created an ecosystem where certain environments can be established for these designs to be brought to life. PROTA has become a complementary part of this.”
Aydın, noting that the workshop is not limited to OSTİM, stated, "Other technoparks and universities in Ankara will be able to realize their projects and dreams with the technology machines here."
Referring to the National Technology Initiative, Mayor Aydın emphasized that achieving success in technology could provide answers to the oppression and massacres in the world, stating, “With this determination and resolve, we are building these technoparks, these institutions and organizations. We believe we will succeed. Because we are witnessing the wonders that the energy here, these seemingly small businesses, are creating. We will produce beneficial and compassionate technologies here for our region, our country, and humanity, and put them at the service of mankind.”
PROTA will add value to the OSTİM ecosystem
Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that they will add new achievements and investments to their existing ones in the second century of our Republic.
Underlining that Turkey is increasingly benefiting from EU programs thanks to its strong infrastructure in industry and technology, Minister Kacır said: “We have secured 233 million Euros in funding for our country through 391 projects in Horizon Europe, the world's highest-budgeted public R&D program. We will continue to play an active role in other EU programs that horizontally intersect technology and R&D.”
Reminding the audience of the services offered to entrepreneurs in technoparks, Kacır stated, “Our ultimate goal is the commercialization of products that will provide added value for our country. One of these structures is PROTA, which we have just opened. I believe that this investment of approximately 5 million Euros will provide added value to the OSTİM industrial and technology ecosystem in the fields of design, prototyping, and commercialization.”
Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that OSTİM, with its more than 6,500 companies and over 65,000 employees, is one of the first names that comes to mind when it comes to industry in Ankara, adding, “OSTİM, a region where critical subcontractors of our defense and aerospace industry are located, successfully represents Turkey in international markets with its unique products in construction machinery, medical industry, rail transportation systems, and communication technologies. Today, I can proudly say that the OSTİM industrial and technological ecosystem, like a young tree whose roots and branches are rapidly growing, encompasses not only Ankara's but also Turkey's production and innovation environment.”
PROTA will be the reference
Pointing out that Ostim Technopark will reach an even more important position in the OSTIM ecosystem with PROTA, the Minister of Industry and Technology stated, "PROTA Technology Production Workshop, with its modern machinery and equipment park and proactive consultancy support, will rise to a reference position for infrastructures showing similar development stories both in Turkey and in Europe."
Following the speeches, Minister Kacır and his delegation inspected the PROTA Technology Production Workshop. Examining the products manufactured at the workshop and those of Ostim Technopark entrepreneurs, Kacır also received information from Ahmet Kurt, Deputy Chairman of the Communication Technologies Cluster (HTK), about the radio link developed by HTK within the scope of the End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Project. Highlighting the importance of national production in communication technologies, Minister Kacır stated that work on a domestic and national 5G project would continue.
OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın presented Minister Kacır with the book "Heavy Industry," prepared by the Ministry of Industry and Technology in 1977.
