OSTİM Technical University held its 2022-2023 Academic Opening Ceremony. At the ceremony, the first lecture was given to the students by TUSAŞ General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil.
OSTİM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek and OSTİM Board Chairman and OSTİM Technical Trustee Orhan Aydın delivered the opening speeches.
Entrepreneurial perspective
Rector Yülek emphasized the importance of the entrepreneurship training they provide to their students and stressed that they should engage in at least one entrepreneurial activity. He stated that they do not expect all graduating students to be entrepreneurs, but they should act with an entrepreneurial mindset in every field they work in.
Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the OSTİM Board of Directors and Chairman of the OSTİM Technical University Board of Trustees, recalled OSTİM's 55-year history and emphasized that OSTİM Technical University also has a 55-year infrastructure. Aydın explained that the majority of the companies located in the 12 Organized Industrial Zones in Ankara were founded and grew in OSTİM, drawing attention to OSTİM's experience and accumulated knowledge.
Orhan Aydın emphasized that Ostim Technopark was established through a partnership of 7 universities in Ankara, and stated that OSTİM Technical University is a complement to the OSTİM ecosystem.
“We have a lot of work to do in Turkey”
TUSAŞ General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil explained TUSAŞ's projects to the students. Emphasizing that TUSAŞ employs 5500 engineers and needs more, Kotil gave the students the following message: “Don't leave Turkey; we have a lot of work here. Your diplomas are valuable, but your knowledge is even more valuable. If you can't design, manufacture, or develop software, a diploma alone is not enough. The world has changed, and OSTİM has paved the way. You will develop the university further and take it to the top ranks.”
