OSSA, a leading organization among defense industry SMEs, has achieved another significant milestone in Europe. The cluster brought together Turkish and French industries at Aeromart Toulouse 2016.

OSTİM Defence and Aerospace Cluster (OSSA), which serves the sector with the aim of making defense industry SMEs competitive in national and international markets, has achieved another significant success in Europe.
In a meeting held in collaboration with GIFAS, which represents French aviation industry companies, Turkish and French institutions and firms came together in France. At the meeting, the Undersecretariat of Defence Industry (SSM), TAI, Turkish Technic, Istanbul SAHA Cluster, Bursa Aerospace and Defence Cluster, Kale Aviation, and OSSA members Gür Metal, Hezarfen Aviation, MFK Makina, and Ünimetal met with leading French companies in the sector such as AIRBUS, SAFRAN, and THALES.
60 registered job interviews
OSSA participated as a speaker at the ‘Aeromart Toulouse 2016’ event, held in Toulouse, France, from November 29th to December 1st, 2016, with the participation of 1,300 companies and 15,000 bilateral business meetings (B2B) in the aviation and aerospace industry. At the event, OSSA presented a paper titled ‘Turkey and OSSA’s Place in Civil Aviation’. The cluster also conducted 60 registered business meetings with leading companies in the sector, providing information about the capabilities and potential of its firms.

OSSA Coordinator Hilal Ünal, in her presentation, described the developments in the aviation sector in Turkey and provided information about the cluster members. Following the meeting, a technical visit was made to AIRBUS and THALES companies. The work of both companies was observed on-site. During the AIRBUS leg of the visit, the A380 Assembly Line was introduced.
Hilal Ünal shared the following views on the work carried out in France: “Passenger traffic in Turkey has increased by 223 percent in the last 10 years. Turkish Airlines (THY) is among the leaders in the sector. SSM and TAI have projects related to civil aviation. Turkish Technic is the most effective MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) center in the region. In terms of manufacturing, OSSA is preparing its members for the civil aviation sector to meet all these increasing demands. OSSA provides training, certification, and consultancy, and maintains constant communication with major players in the sector. I wholeheartedly believe that France will engage in two-way cooperation with Turkey.”
