OSTİM Defence and Aerospace Cluster (OSSA), within the scope of the Turkish Ministry of Economy's URGE project, participated in the Paris Eurosatory Fair, considered one of the world's largest defense and aerospace fairs, with 17 of its members. The OSSA stand attracted significant attention from both domestic and international visitors. Cluster companies conducted 340 business meetings, and the ICDDA'16 event was promoted throughout the fair.
OSSA, continuing its activities to develop the business networks of its members, has concluded another successful trade fair. The cluster, which participates in leading industry events with its URGE project, was in France between June 13-17, 2016.
OSSA, which met with international suppliers and buyers at Paris Eurosatory, one of the world's largest defense and aerospace fairs, was represented by 17 members in a 72 m2 area in Hall 5. OSSA was located in the Turkey pavilion together with the Undersecretariat of Defense Industry and main industry companies.
Intensive meetings were held in Paris with the aim of observing the latest technology in the defense, land, sea, and air sectors, seizing opportunities to continue and strengthen previously established commercial relationships, and providing a vision for potential investments. At the fair, cluster management held 89 business meetings, while companies held a total of 340.
OSSA's stand, which hosted important actors in the sector, was visited by Deputy Minister of National Defence Şuay Alpay, Department Heads of the Undersecretariat of Defence Industry, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey, officials from the Force Commands, and many company representatives.
During the preparations for the event, preliminary work was carried out with foreign companies to participate together in EU projects, to benefit more from know-how transfer in R&D activities, and to increase the export capacity of SMEs.
More French Companies Participate in ICDDA
OSSA also promoted the Ankara Defence and Aerospace Industrial Cooperation Days (ICDDA), which will open its doors in October, during the fair. ICDDA, which saw the participation of 270 companies from 34 countries in 2014, with 4,800 registered bilateral business meetings, and for which registrations are already underway for the third edition, attracted considerable interest during the fair.
During a meeting with GICAT officials, more French defense industry companies were included in the ICDDA. According to the information received, the participation of all major original equipment manufacturers, particularly in the defense industry, has been confirmed.
ICDDA’16, which will bring together domestic and international buyers not only from the civil aviation sector but also from the defense industry and, this year, especially from the homeland security sector, will create a very effective business platform for SMEs and large companies in these fields.
