OSTİM Technical University, a university of industry, technology, and entrepreneurship, has sent its institute and faculty graduates into the business world with experience for the first time, and its vocational school graduates for the third time.

The graduation ceremony was attended by the 22nd Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Bülent Arınç, Deputy Governor Ayhan Özkan, Yenimahalle District Governor Türker Çağatay Halim, President of the Court of Disputes Muammer Topal, and executives from OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, OSTİM Foundation, OSTİM Technopark, OSTİM Investment, and OSTİM Cluster.

Experience and share the OSTiMTECH difference.

OSTİM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek stated that they are experiencing the pride and joy of graduating students who, as a university of industry, technology, and entrepreneurship, have set out with the goal of training individuals who can take active roles and responsibilities in the development of Turkey.

Yülek emphasized that their main goal is to raise young people who have internalized human values and can build the future, stating, “As OSTİM Technical University, we aim to play an active role in the industry, technology, and economy sectors that we prioritize, by supporting our sectoral advantages with an education, research, and application infrastructure and equipment at international standards. Our most important motivation in achieving our goals is the differences in our education and training process.”

Yülek, noting that they are acting with the hope of creating a new university model for Turkey, gave the following message to the students: “Dear students, throughout your university education, we have made every effort to educate each of you as individuals who possess the knowledge and skills required by the business world, have a broad vision, are curious, ask questions, say ‘I am learning’ rather than ‘I know,’ can generate creative ideas, have high professional awareness, and possess an entrepreneurial spirit. We have also frequently reminded you of the importance of human values, professional ethics, and our national and cultural values. As a result of all this, our request to you is that you contribute to our country, the world, and your field as individuals who question, think, offer effective solutions to problems, and feel and can make others feel the privilege of OSTiMTECH, using the education you have gained and the skills you possess.”

OSTİM is always by your side

Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of OSTİM Technical University and Chairman of the OSTİM Board of Directors, expressed his excitement and pride in graduating the students.

Aydın, recalling that OSTİM has left its mark on the industrialization of Ankara with its experience of over 58 years, said, "OSTİM has dreamed of more than just workplaces, and it has crowned these dreams with education and technology centers, and by adding a university to its 58-year history since 2017."

Emphasizing that graduates will always be a part of OSTİM, Aydın gave the following messages: “We don't just want to graduate our students and send them off through this door. They have become our children. I want to promise that we will always follow them, observe them, and continue to mentor them as they remain a part of this school and OSTİM in their future lives. The doors of all our institutions will be open to you. You can contact us regarding any problems or issues in your life.”

OSTİM Technical University, OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, Ostim Technopark, our clusters, and companies will always be by your side. Our relationship is not just a student-teacher-school-school-administrator relationship. We have accepted you as our children. We also extend our sincere thanks to our valuable clusters and their leaders, who are an indispensable part of production for the independence and future of our country. We entrust our students to you, to the industry, and to the institutions of our country. We expect you to take care of them.”

Young Ahi members donned their sashes.

At the ceremony, students who successfully graduated were presented with the Ahi sash in the presence of the managers of the Construction and Industrial Machinery Cluster, OSTİM Defense and Aerospace Cluster, OSTİM Renewable Energy and Environmental Technologies Cluster, OSTİM Medical Industry Cluster, Anatolian Rail Transportation Systems Cluster and Communication Technologies Cluster.

Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of OSTİM Technical University and Chairman of the OSTİM Board of Directors, reminded the students that the foundation of the clustering organization, which is a model for the whole world, is based on the Ahi Brotherhood, and said the following: “With the Ahi Brotherhood organization, which includes the concepts of unity in the profession, cooperation, synergy, and joint competition, we became the number one in the world in these lands. We have lost these values. Now, these values are very important for us to revive them and regain our former strength. I wish you continued success in your work, earning this in your profession.”

Regarding the wearing of the sash

In Ahi culture, the "shed kuşanma" (wearing of the sash) ceremony is a symbol of the importance given to profession, art, craft, and mastery. It's a kind of diploma. The ceremony, signifying that the time has come for the apprentice, journeyman, and master to serve not only a specific professional group but all of humanity, both professionally and morally, was a concrete method of passing on the centuries-old Ahi culture to the next generation within a specific discipline.
