The OSTİM Foundation 2021-2022 Board of Trustees Meeting was held at the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Regional Directorate. OSTİM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek was unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Meeting.
“We make our decisions unanimously.”
In his opening speech at the meeting, Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the OSTİM Foundation, reminded attendees that the OSTİM Foundation was established in 1993. Aydın emphasized that they remembered the late Cevat Dündar, the founder of the OSTİM Small Industrial Site Construction Cooperative, with respect and gratitude, stating, “This cooperative started with very good intentions and good people. We are currently using the legacy of this cooperative, whose results we have all witnessed. At each of our general assemblies, we continue to remember with gratitude and appreciation everyone who worked and contributed before us. Because doing these things truly requires sacrifice.”
Aydın emphasized that they conduct their work with a management approach based on harmony and consultation, stating, “It is very important that we make our decisions unanimously. If someone objects to a decision from within, we postpone it. There is no decision recorded in our minutes that is marked as taken by majority vote. We pay great attention to this. I consider this important for the sustainability of institutions and structures. In the other institutions we have established, the concept of unanimity is also very valuable and precious to us.”
Aydın noted that they determined those who would serve in the OSTİM Foundation through consultation, and conveyed the message, "Because serving here doesn't mean taking something from here, it means giving something back. We open our hearts to everyone who wants to give something back."
“The roadmap to the future is ready”
Recalling the foundation's founding goals, Chairman Aydın said: “The goals of establishing a technopark and a university, which we wrote in our foundation charter as a dream in 1993, must have come true as a prayer, for thank God we have realized all of them. Their establishment is very valuable, but even more important is their survival, sustainability, and their contribution to society by developing and improving themselves; this is as crucial as their establishment.”
"We have prepared a roadmap for the future of these institutions," said Aydın, adding: "We have made preparations regarding how these companies will be managed, how managers will be selected, how boards of directors will be determined, how general assemblies will be held, and how strategic plans will be developed. Most importantly, we have worked on how these will be overseen. I sincerely thank everyone who contributed."
It will live forever
Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the OSTİM Foundation, stated that he believes the foundation and its institutions, which he described as the legacy of the people of OSTİM, will endure forever, and shared the following message: “Believing that the Republic of Turkey will endure forever, we entrust this foundation, which we established, to its founders and administrators, and to those who will manage it in the future, to the laws of the Republic of Turkey, to the General Directorate of Foundations, to the members of the board of trustees who will manage our foundation, to our administrators, and to the administrators of the companies of this foundation, and to everyone who will serve here in the future. With the intention that these will endure forever, I wish our board of trustees meeting to be fruitful.”
OSTİM Foundation Director Gülnaz Karaosmanoğlu presented the Foundation's activities for 2021 and 2022. Affiliated organizations also provided information to the board of trustees regarding their activities. OSTİM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek informed the board members about the university's activities and goals. OSTİM Industrial Investments and Operations Inc. General Manager Abdullah Çörtü and OSTİM Technopark General Manager Dr. Derya Çağlar also described the activities of their respective organizations.
OSTİM Foundation Finance Coordinator Serdar Marasalı presented the balance sheet and income statement. OSTİM Foundation Audit Committee Member Süleyman Eser read the audit committee report.
At the meeting, following discussions on the 2021-2022 activities, balance sheet and income statement, and the audit committee report, the accounts were unanimously approved.
At the meeting, the election of the Board of Directors and the terms of office of the Supervisory Board members were also determined. In the voting, the following members were elected to the OSTİM Foundation Board of Directors, who will serve for a period of 2 years: Orhan Aydın, Sıtkı Öztuna, Adem Arıcı, Ahmet Mithat Ertuğ, Behzat Zeydan, Gülnaz Karaosmanoğlu, and Hamza Akca. Arif Sami İmamoğlu, Süleyman Eser, and Durmuş Irkılata were elected to the Supervisory Board.
The deceased members of the board of trustees, Mustafa Korkmaz, Recep Peker, and Zeki Sayın, as well as the citizens who lost their lives in the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake, were remembered with prayers.
