OSTİM Iftar Dinner: ‘Is Industry 4.0 Poverty Zero Possible?’

The traditional Iftar program of the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone took place at the Hilton Garden Inn Ankara with a large turnout. The Iftar attracted significant interest from politicians, bureaucrats, business leaders, and OSTİM stakeholders. Children of Syrian martyrs were also guests at the Iftar dinner. Each year, the OSTİM Iftar is organized around a different theme; this Ramadan's theme was "Industry 4.0 Poverty 0: Is it Possible? Questions for the Near Future." The theme was shared with the guests through a prepared film.

“Technology Should Be Used for the Benefit of Humanity”

OSTİM Board Chairman Orhan Aydın emphasized that technology should be used for the benefit of humanity. Aydın stated: “Every year during Ramadan, we hold this program to come together with our friends. Now, we all talk about industrialization and technology. We are relentlessly pursuing it. However, when we don't use this technology for the benefit of humanity, for the well-being of humankind, technology turns into a wild beast that works in reverse.”

We absolutely must not lose sight of the concepts of compassion, kindness, beauty, and humanity. To achieve this, we must all work together. The Directorate of Religious Affairs has a wonderful slogan: "Kindness will change the world." We constantly share this on our websites and social media accounts. We will all change things. We shouldn't wait for others to change us or the world. Everyone will change themselves, their environment, their business, their region, their city, their country, and the world. This is the path we know. I extend my sincere thanks to everyone who is making an effort in this regard.”

“OSTİM is very important for us”

Gürsel Baran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO), one of the guests at the OSTİM iftar dinner, began his speech by saying, “If any country in the world had experienced the treacherous FETÖ coup attempt we went through on July 15th, would they have continued with normal business life on July 16th? This country is none other than Turkey! No one else could have done this.”

Recalling that credit rating agencies downgraded Turkey's rating the day after July 15th, Baran stated, "But OSTİM believed, we believed, our city believed, our country believed, and continued with investment, production, trade, and growth. The growth figures announced this week made us all happy. We will hopefully reach our year-end target of 4.4% without any deviation. On that day, all of Turkey believed in the employment mobilization initiated by our President. On that day, all our institutions and organizations stood by the merchants and tradesmen. OSTİM is very important for us. The defense industry is very important for Ankara; it is the heart of the defense industry."

Gürsel Baran stated that they have begun to dedicate all their efforts to Ankara's trade, potential, and the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, and that they want Ankara to have a fairground soon. He also expressed that the capital city is poised to become a very important center in health tourism. Baran noted that Ankara would gain a lot from direct flights from abroad.

The ATO President concluded his remarks by saying, “The time of Ankara's tradespeople is valuable; even one minute is crucial. I also don't think it's right to gather all of Turkey in Istanbul. In this sense, I request this of all our senior government officials and ministers. I also implore you to lobby on this issue wherever you go.”
