Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, who participated in the 3rd Tashkent International Investment Forum held in Uzbekistan, evaluated OSTİM's activities in Uzbekistan during a live broadcast on TRT Avaz.
Aydın, stating that they were present at the forum as investors, said, “OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone in Ankara has created an ecosystem with small and medium-sized enterprises, a technopark, clusters, and a university. This structure completes almost the entire ecosystem for the development of small businesses and a region. Therefore, this is a structure that attracts a lot of interest from other countries as well.”
“We want to bring the Turkish model here”
President Aydın stated that they started working in the country at the invitation of their Uzbek friends and state officials, adding, “We provided consultancy services for the construction of an industrial zone here. Now, the state has allocated an area to us. They allocated it because it is OSTİM [Antalya Industrial Zone]. Here, together with a solution partner, we want to build and operate an industrial zone and bring the Turkish model here. We want to share our expertise to develop the industry here.”
Aydın, who stated that the OSTİM model would be discussed in the panel where he would participate as a speaker at the forum, said, “Our region is not just a place with buildings. We are talking about a structure that has created an ecosystem bringing together industrialization, technology, innovation, and education. Therefore, this is a regional development model. If you want to develop a city, a country, or a region, all the components here are present within OSTİM.”
“Both our history and our geography necessitate our presence here.”
Aydın stated that the OSTİM model is also in demand from different cities in Uzbekistan, saying, “Uzbekistan is a very important region of Central Asia; both our history and geography necessitate our presence here. We are not here only for trade and money. We also want to improve our country's relations. This is also our ancestral homeland. Our office is currently operational in Uzbekistan, and our construction site has been established. We have started the work. We have taken possession of the site. Hopefully, an opening is planned for next September or October.”
