The contract for the first of four projects included in OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone's investment program under the World Bank-financed Organized Industrial Zones Project in Turkey – the Street Lighting Conversion to LED Technology Project – was signed at the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The signing ceremony was attended by Abdurrahman Aydın, General Director of Industrial Zones at the Ministry of Industry and Technology; Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone; Adem Arıcı, Regional Manager of OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone; Haşim Cihan Demirköprülü, Project Director at the Ministry of Industry; and a representative from the winning company.

As part of the project, traditional sodium vapor streetlights located within the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone will be replaced with LED technology fixtures.

The project, which aims to create an environmentally friendly and efficient electric lighting system, will provide a more efficient, economical, and high-quality lighting environment in the streets of OSTİM. An annual energy saving of 560 mWh is expected, resulting in a gain of approximately 1.7 million TL. This is equivalent to 444,000 m² of forest area that will sequester carbon annually. In this way, 280 tons of carbon emissions will be prevented each year. The LED conversion will bring OSTİM one step closer to its carbon-zero goals.

The additional lifespan gained per street light is estimated at 60,000 hours.

OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Board Chairman Orhan Aydın wished General Manager of Industrial Zones Abdurrahman Aydın success in his new position.
