Electricity consumption, one of the most important indicators of industrial production, continues to rise in OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone. OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, a leading industrial hub in Turkey that has maintained uninterrupted production since the start of the pandemic, has broken its electricity consumption record for the last five years.
The highest monthly electricity consumption, recorded in December 2016 at 15,228,017 kWh, peaked again in March 2021 with 15,383,426 kWh. This figure for March, a period when heating needs are lower due to seasonal conditions, indicates an increase in production in the region.
Commenting on the matter, OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Regional Manager Adem Arıcı emphasized that companies did not disrupt their production during the pandemic. Arıcı said, “Companies entered a recovery process after the first few months. As the Regional Directorate, we were in constant communication with the companies and conveyed the information received from the ministry. We continued the services of the Regional Directorate without interruption. Electricity consumption increased by 7 percent compared to 2020. In our meetings with the companies, we did not hear any complaints about their businesses declining. We are trying to keep the morale and motivation of the companies high through video conference meetings. We have learned to live with the virus and to continue producing. This consumption value achieved in March 2021 has pleased our companies, who have been working tirelessly for our country, and us.”
Kütükcü: "Consumption in 350 Organized Industrial Zones increased by 8 percent"
Memiş Kütükcü, President of the Organized Industrial Zones Association (OSBÜK), also stated in his announcement that electricity consumption in organized industrial zones increased by 8 percent in the first quarter of the year. Evaluating the consumption of 350 organized industrial zones, Kütükcü said, “The good news from our organized industrial zones gives us morale and strengthens Turkey. This increase in electricity consumption signifies a strong increase in production.”
OSBÜK President Memiş Kütükcü shared information on his social media account regarding electricity consumption, one of the most important indicators of production in Organized Industrial Zones (OSBs), which OSBÜK regularly monitors. President Kütükcü's social media post reads as follows: “The good news coming from our OSBs, where 64,000 businesses operate, gives us morale and strengthens Turkey. Electricity consumption in our OSBs, the productive force of Turkey, increased by 8 percent in the first quarter of the year. This means a strong increase in production. I congratulate all our industrialists and their employees.”
