In Kyrgyzstan, a sister country, efforts to establish a Kyrgyz-Turkish joint industrial zone have accelerated with the support of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov. The country aims to implement the industrial zone using the OSTİM model. Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Investment Promotion and Protection, Almanbet Shykmamatov, stated that he will prepare the necessary studies for the implementation of the OSTİM model and submit them to parliament, and that the way will be cleared for the project after the legal process is completed.
As part of official visits to Ankara, Almanbet Shykmamatov, Minister of Investment Promotion and Protection of the Kyrgyz Republic, Elvira Borombaeva, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov, Temirlan Sarlykbek Uulu, Co-Chair of the Turkey-Kyrgyzstan Business Council, and their accompanying delegation conducted inspections at OSTİM.
OSTİM Board Chairman Orhan Aydın and OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Regional Manager Adem Arıcı introduced the region to the Kyrgyz Minister and his delegation, and provided information about the protocols previously signed with various institutions and organizations in Kyrgyzstan regarding the transfer of the OSTİM model.
Regional Manager Adem Arıcı explained OSTİM's administrative structure and management processes to the Kyrgyz delegation.
“We can share our 50 years of experience and knowledge.”
OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın recalled that they have been working with many countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia on the transfer of the OSTİM model. Aydın emphasized that as part of these efforts, they have prepared projects and shared their experience with countries requesting the OSTİM model.
Aydın stated that an industrial zone was established in Khartoum, Sudan, with the expertise of OSTİM, saying, “We prepared a project together with Khartoum University. An industrial zone was established there. We also contributed to the establishment of that zone. We transferred our project and information regarding the construction of a zone named OSTİM Industrial Zone in the capital of Tunisia.”
Noting the renewed interest in the region, particularly in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Bukhara, and Samarkand, Orhan Aydın stated, “OSTİM Technical University signed a protocol in Azerbaijan. Our university is also ready to cooperate with Manas University in the scientific field. If you are moving towards establishing an organized industrial zone, we can share our 50 years of experience and knowledge with you. If we implement the OSTİM model there, Kyrgyzstan will become number one in the region.”
OSTİM model on its way to parliament
Almanbet Shykmamatov, Minister of Investment Promotion and Protection of the Kyrgyz Republic, stated that they possess all the necessary resources to establish a Kyrgyz-Turkish joint industrial zone. Noting that Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov frequently raises the issue, Shykmamatov said, "From his very first statements, our President has been conveying the message that we will strengthen our relations with Turkey."
The Kyrgyz Minister, stating that they want to implement the OSTİM model of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey in their country's economy and production processes, said: “I will prepare the necessary studies for the implementation of the OSTİM model and submit them to parliament. After the legal process is completed, the way will be opened for the work. The OSTİM model is a very strong and good model; it is a great opportunity for the development of industrialists. We also consider it a model that will strengthen and develop the Kyrgyz economy. We are ready to develop the OSTİM model in the city of Karabalta, near Bishkek, in an area close to international highways and railways. This area is located 50 km from Kazakhstan.”
“We are ready to meet the conditions”
Almanbet Shykmamatov, addressing Turkish industrialists and investors, stated, “We would be very pleased if industrialists from Turkey, particularly those from OSTİM (the Kyrgyz industrial zone in Istanbul), came to Kyrgyzstan. As the Kyrgyz state, we are ready to provide both legal and business conditions in accordance with our legal infrastructure, constitution, and all our laws. We would be very happy to see our industrialist brothers from Turkey in the Kyrgyz market.”
Minister Almanbet Shykmamatov, within the framework of the OSTİM program, received information about the production and export networks of OSTİM Kalıp A.Ş. and Günhan Alüminyum, companies that recently started production.
