The Apprentice Training and Education Foundation organized a meeting on the problems of vocational education in OSTİM and surrounding industries. The meeting was attended by Ankara Governor Ercan Topaca, Ankara Provincial Director of National Education Vefa Bardakcı, Yenimahalle District Governor Selda Dural, Yenimahalle District Police Chief Zafer Kalkan, OSTİM Board Chairman Orhan Aydın, Apprentice Training and Education Foundation President İbrahim Karakoç, YOYAV President Dr. İbrahim Ateş, Anadolu Organized Industrial Zone Board Chairman Hüseyin Kutsi Tuncay, ORISAD Board Chairman Nedret Yener, managers of vocational training centers across Ankara, industrialists, and numerous apprentices.
"There are 100,000 apprentices in Türkiye"
Ibrahim Karakoç, President of the Apprenticeship Training and Education Foundation, who opened the program addressing the roles of apprentices in industrial production, stated that there are over 100,000 apprentices throughout Turkey. Karakoç said, “We absolutely need to bring these apprentices together under one roof. As a foundation, we stand by our young people. When the apprenticeship law was enacted in 1986, we immediately established our foundation. From that year until today, we have provided all kinds of services to nearly 80,000 apprentices.”
"Without production, prosperity cannot increase"
OSTİM Chairman Orhan Aydın emphasized that OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone is a region aware of and prioritizing education. Aydın stated, “This is where apprenticeship training was conceived. OSTİM is the region where the apprenticeship law was first implemented and put into practice. This is a production region; we cannot survive without production.”
President Aydın, explaining that prosperity cannot increase without production, stated, “Manufacturing industry, in particular, is defined as the engine of development. Without industry and production, developing and improving the country, and reaching the prosperity level of other countries, is not possible with only the service sector. Serious, high-quality education is also needed behind production. It is impossible to produce without education.” With these words, he drew attention to the importance of education for industry.
"Young people should be given a good goal"
Ankara Governor Ercan Topaca, in his speech at the meeting, reminded the audience that young people should be given goals. Governor Topaca made the following remarks: “In solving problems, it is of great importance to consult and discuss with those directly involved in the work before drafting legal texts. First and foremost, we need to give our young people a good goal.”
One of the main reasons I'm meeting with young people today is to show them that they can be successful in life. Many of the owners and founders of companies that are now among Turkey's top 500 and have become major industrialists were apprentices 30-40 years ago.”
After the speeches, Ankara Governor Ercan Topaca answered questions from students and industrialists.
