Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone, stated that Turkey experienced one of the most difficult days in its history during the July 15 coup attempt, adding, "To prevent new July 15th events from happening and to thwart treacherous plans against our country, we must ensure our development using our domestic and national resources."
Aydın shared the following views on the anniversary of July 15:
“Our country experienced one of the most difficult days in its history on July 15, 2016. Traitors, used as pawns by dark forces, attacked our national unity, solidarity, and will. We are marking the first anniversary of this bloody uprising, in which we lost 249 martyrs and had many wounded veterans.”
The evil forces attacking democracy targeted our President, the legitimate Government, and, through them, the nation itself. The group with foreign roots, which has infiltrated our beloved Armed Forces, attempted to disrupt our unity and solidarity.
Thanks to the firm stance of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, our Prime Minister, Mr. Binali Yıldırım, the Cabinet, political parties, NGOs, the press; in short, Türkiye, by upholding democracy and acting with common sense, repelled this attempt.
They tried to halt our country's historic march forward by tripping it up; they wanted to bring Turkey, the hope of the oppressed not only in its region but from Central Asia to the Balkans, into line. But they failed, and they will fail!
“Our nation displayed historic resistance”
On July 15th, enemies of democracy attacked our unity. Our nation, displaying historic resistance, shielded itself against the vile uprising and stopped the shameless attack.
From the very beginning of these events, our people demonstrated great wisdom; we became one, we became united. As our President said, on the night of July 15th, Turkey united, leaving all its differences behind. The nation, having thwarted the futile attempt, stood up for democracy, its will, its government, and its honor, turning the coup plotters' ambitions against them.
The coup attempt, which left a dark stain on our history, allowed us to see our shortcomings. On July 15th, just as in Çanakkale and the War of Independence, a saga of heroism was written once again. We are proud of our noble nation.
“We must work three shifts, twenty-four hours a day”
Industrialization is a strategic concept. The strength of countries lies in production. The stronger your production and the more you export as a global brand, the stronger and more independent you are. The foundation of the instruments that will enable production is that the technology and, consequently, the design, belong to you.
It is essential to translate knowledge and technology into production. If we do not value the products we make ourselves, we cannot sustain our development with products made by foreigners. We have no alternative but to produce high value-added products.
To improve the quality of production and create brands, we must act like developed economies. Our own producers should be given opportunities, patience should be shown towards them in R&D and innovation processes, and they should be supported to enhance their competitiveness in international markets.
We cannot achieve development by importing our needs from abroad. We must work three shifts, twenty-four hours a day. We must shift our focus more towards domestic and national production. Supporting domestic production is supporting our future.
OSTİM, a milestone in the industrialization of Ankara and Turkey, a development ecosystem that has been working for the development of our domestic and national industry since 1967, will continue to work with Turkish industry to increase its scientific and technological development capabilities and produce original projects and solutions to meet the needs of the country with conviction.
To prevent a recurrence of events like July 15th and to thwart treacherous plans against our country, we must ensure our development using our domestic and national resources. We must think domestically and nationally; we must produce more and participate in global competition with our own knowledge, technology, and products.
As the OSTİM community, we pray to God for mercy upon our dear martyrs who defended our homeland with their lives on July 15th, and we wish a speedy recovery to our veterans.”
