Continuing its contacts within the scope of the Central Asia program, the OSTİM delegation held an OSTİM promotional meeting with the Uzbekistan Economic Affairs Directorate. In addition to the OSTİM delegation, representatives of the Uzbek business community also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the Head of Economic Affairs of Uzbekistan, Mukhtar Umorov, gave the opening speech.

“We are ready to share 50 years of accumulated knowledge and experience”

OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Regional Manager Adem Arıcı gave a brief presentation introducing the region. Recalling that OSTİM was planned as an industrial and trade center in 1967, Arıcı stated, “OSTİM was established with the aim of encompassing not only Turkish industry but also the trade and industry of the surrounding geography, especially the Middle East and the Central Asian Turkic Republics.”

Arıcı stated that there are companies in the region that produce for very critical sectors ranging from satellite technologies to defense and medical industries, and shared his assessment: “With the strength of our companies and our management style, we are a regional development model. As OSTİM, we are a model of how a region, a city, and a country should develop.”

Arıcı pointed out that OSTİM is a pioneer in sectoral clusters in Turkey, noting that they host 7 sectoral clusters under the headings of business and construction machinery, defense and aerospace, renewable energy, medical, rail systems, rubber technologies and communication technologies.

OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone Regional Manager Adem Arıcı said, "We are ready to share our experience and knowledge accumulated over more than 50 years with you, together with our institutions, organizations, and clusters."

“Our cooperation in production and education will continue”

OSTİM Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek provided information about the university. Stating that they are the only university in the world established within an industrial zone, Yülek explained that they graduate technicians, engineers, and managers who are knowledgeable in their fields through their applied education model.

Yülek noted that they also exchanged views with university rectors they met in Uzbekistan regarding the transfer of the applied education model to the country, saying, “We have carried out various studies regarding the transfer of our experiences to universities in Uzbekistan. Our cooperation with various universities here will continue in both production and technical education.”

“Let’s join forces through cooperation”

Orhan Aydın, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of OSTİM Technical University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of OSTİM, stated that the one-week Central Asia program focused on trade, education, and cooperation with Organized Industrial Zones.

Orhan Aydın, emphasizing that the light that transformed the world, European civilization, and the Middle Ages, and the Enlightenment, originated in Central Asia, stated: “Scientists such as Ibn Sina, Biruni, Al-Khwarizmi, Hoca Ahmet Yesevi, Ulugh Beg, and Ali Kuşçu, who grew up in regions like Samarkand and Bukhara, studied both religious and material sciences together in the madrasas we see today. Currently, there are no madrasas of this size in the world. The light that transformed and changed European civilization came from Central Asia. European scientists developed by putting into practice the knowledge discovered by our ancestors.”

Aydın, emphasizing the importance of rediscovering the civilization established by Turks in Central Asia in the past, stated: “We must rediscover the people who established this civilization, who built the structures and educational institutions here in that era. I came here with this thought in mind before. I encouraged all my friends to do the same. We have much to learn. But we will also find ways to share what we have with you. Knowledge and wisdom are the common property of all humanity. Wherever we find them, we will take them and work to use them for the benefit of humanity. Let's cooperate and join forces with the Uzbek business world. Let's give you what we have, and we will take what you have. Let's create something good from this. We are very open to sharing our knowledge and experience. We will mobilize for the development and progress of Uzbekistan.”
