What is Package Treatment?

Package treatments prepared for the treatment of domestic wastewater are standardized according to the wastewater flow rate of certain populations, and a compact biological treatment system in which aeration, sedimentation and discharge processes are carried out in the same tank. In package treatment systems, waste water is taken to the ventilation section by means of a pumping pump. In order to ensure that these processes take place, air is supplied to the ventilation section with a blower and distributed with the help of diffusers. In the aeration section, the sedimentation process is carried out in order to separate the organic polluted waste water from the bacterial balls it contains. Afterwards, the purified water remaining in the upper part is discharged and removed from the system.

Since the aeration and settling processes are carried out in the same tank in package treatment systems, package treatment is a compact unit and takes up less space compared to other systems.
Package treatments can be painted in desired colors and are easily adapted to the environment in terms of aesthetics.
The outlet water is in accordance with the standards and can be used for garden irrigation and similar processes if desired.
In package treatment systems, the number of electrically operated equipment is low. (Blower, submersible pump, chlorine dosing pump) so the energy consumption is small.
Since package treatments work automatically, they are easy to maintain and operate, and are economical.
Package treatment tanks can be manufactured in different sizes, with capacities ranging from 100 to 1000 people.

Package Treatment Working Principle

Biological package treatment systems consist of screen channel, pre-settlement pool, balancing pool, and biological reactor tank. Waste water coming from the facility is purified by passing through these units, and then discharged and removed from the facility.

1-) Grid Channel - Coarse Grid

Waste water originating from the facility comes to the screen channel in the first stage and passes through the coarse screen in this section. In the coarse grid, solids larger than 30 mm that are in the water and cannot be dissolved in the water are kept and removed from the system. It can be made with manual cleaning or automatic cleaning upon request.

2-) Pre-Sedimentation Pool

Waste water passing through the screen channel is collected in the pre-settlement tank. Here, suspended solids and small-sized particles in collapsible form in the water are retained. Thus, both the pollution load of the water is reduced and the mechanical equipment in the system is prevented from being damaged. The sludge accumulated on the bottom of the pool is removed from the system by vacuuming in 3-4 monthly periods.

3-) Equalization Pool

Waste water passing through the pre-settlement basin is collected in the balancing basin. By keeping the water in this pool, peak flow fluctuations that may arise from the facility are prevented, and a homogeneous waste water mixture is obtained, allowing waste water to be sent to the biological reactor with a constant flow and pollution load.

4-) Biological Reactor

TT Treatment package units as a biological treatment process; It works according to the Sequential Batch Activated Sludge (SBR) System. In these systems, aeration, settling and discharge processes occur sequentially in the same tank.

The water accumulated in the balancing pool is transmitted to the package treatment tank at certain periods by the submersible pump located at the bottom of the pool. After the water reaches a certain level, the pump stops working and the blower is activated and the oxygen needs of the bacteria in the water are met. After the necessary oxygen needs of the bacteria are met, the aeration process ends.

After the aeration process, the precipitation process begins and the microorganisms in the tank are expected to settle on the bottom of the tank. With the completion of this process, the discharge phase begins.

The discharge process is sent to the discharge point determined by the submersible pump placed at a point where the microorganisms in the tank and the clear water are separated. The quality of the discharged water can be increased with sand-carbon filters and UV devices and used in irrigation.
