PLATE HEAT EXCHANGER GASKET MATERIALS
Rubber materials consist of a mixture of many additives. Each rubber material is unique. Sometimes, the materials of different suppliers are similar to each other, and often the same material gasket of each company shows different properties. For example, the recommended usage temperature of the gasket produced with a mixture of NBR from two different companies may differ from each other. The most important content is polymer, ranging from 15% to 70% by weight. A typical gasket recipe is as follows:
50% Polymer
40% Fill
5% Softener
2% Activator
1% Healer
1% Accelerator
1% Antioxidant
All additives have a different effect on the properties of the gasket. The gasket mixture prepared for a particular application can rarely be used for other applications. Technically, professional products can be obtained by developing more mixtures to meet very specific needs.
Synthetic polymers are produced to gain properties that natural rubber does not have.
For example, the properties of resistance to oil, chemicals, temperature, weather conditions (ozone, UV light) are gained in this way.
The standard gasket material for weather, steam and water resistance is EPDM (Ethylene-Propylene Rubber). NBR (Nitrile rubber) is a material that can withstand all of the above up to a certain temperature and is especially used for oil.
