Fire Retardant Paints

The purpose of all fire retardant systems and materials is primarily to prevent the spread of fire and smoke and to ensure that people inside the building can exit the building safely, and then to prevent the spread of fire to neighboring structures while maintaining the integrity of the building. Fire retardant paint is similar in appearance to normal paints. It is stable at ambient temperature. However, as a result of a series of chemical reactions during a fire, it swells up to 40-50 times the thickness of its application, forming an insulating layer on the steel. Using fire retardant paint does not always mean providing fire insulation. The right application and system solution is as important as the material.
