Couplings are the elements that connect the shafts axially. The main feature that determines the coupling types is the unevenness between the shaft axes. Couplings that do not meet any irregularity are called rigid couplings, and those that do are called flexible couplings. If the flexibility is provided by a kinematic connection, the couplings are called elastic if provided by an elastic element with kinematic connection or articulation, hydraulic if it is obtained with liquid, and magnetic coupling if it is obtained with a magnetic field.
