Product Name : TraXon
Product Code : 005
Category : ZF Intarder
Sub Category : TraXon
TraXon, the new automatic transmission system developed by ZF for heavy trucks, provides a versatile solution with a wide range of applications in the commercial vehicle market.
This innovative transmission has more torque, better sound comfort and a wider range of gear ratios.
Depending on the application, the system can be driven by a dry clutch as well as a hybrid module, double clutch module or converter clutch, and can also be combined with an additional power output connected to the engine. 'PreVision' gear control system developed by ZF for the new transmission; Thanks to the GPS connection and an interface for navigation data, it enables forward-thinking and particularly fuel-efficient operation.
The new TraXon transmission, capable of transmitting torques greater than 3,000 Nm and thus very attractive for markets where trucks with a maximum laden weight exceeding 60 tons are used; It is offered in 12 and 16 gears. With the redesign of the gears, innovations in the transmission housing and the integration of a vibration damper, the noise level in the TraXon transmission has been reduced by an average of 6 dB compared to the AS Tronic transmission.
This new transmission also enables two additional reverse gears. Thus, for vehicles that require rapid reversing over long distances, such as trucks used on highway construction sites, there are four
reverse gear is provided. In addition to single and double dry-plate clutches, for the first time, ZF offers a hybrid module (TraXon Hybrid) for heavy commercial vehicles in the TraXon transmission.
A 120 kW electric motor and a disconnect clutch enable hybrid functions such as energy recovery, electric travel, boost and Start-Stop function. It is emphasized that the electric motor can be used even when the internal combustion engine is stopped, in order to provide energy to additional units such as cooling in special transportation works. For use in heavy tractors, the TraXon basic transmission can also be combined with a converter clutch.
It is stated that this will provide wear-free starting even at high input torques and smooth and comfortable maneuvers with affordable lifetime costs. An optional engine-connected power take-off (PTO) is placed between the vehicle's engine and transmission and is used for commercial vehicles that require very high torque regardless of cruising speed, such as special extinguishing vehicles, mobile cranes and concrete pumps.
The off-throttle cruising function offered by the new TraXon transmission provides an advantage on highways and rural highways in the form of gentle downhill gradients. The transmission shifts to neutral, the drive train is separated from the engine while driving without accelerating, and the engine runs at idle. Thus, the possibility of possible drag is prevented and fuel consumption and emissions are reduced. In addition, the topography-assisted control immediately detects very steep downhill slopes and activates the engine brake and transmission brake instead of the cruise function without accelerating in order to protect the service brakes on such sections.
ZF's new TraXon transmission is the answer to all the major trends currently known in long-distance transport,” says Rolf Lutz, responsible for commercial vehicle technology on the ZF Board of Directors. It provides great flexibility and low operating costs in a wide range of applications.
