Oil seal (rotating shaft seal) is a machine element with rotational movement or in some special cases linear (tidal) movement, used to prevent the mixing of fluids in two separate environments, in other words, to ensure that the oil in the oil environment remains in that environment.

Sealing Functions

Seal profile (Type) depends on many factors such as felt rubber material, rotating shaft surface, speed, ambient temperature, ambient pressure, vibration, amount of axial movement and their changes over time. performs the basic function:
1) Static sealing: To provide static (immobile) sealing between the outer diameter of the felt and the seat surface,
2) Dynamic sealing: To provide dynamic (moving) sealing between the felt oil lip and the rotating shaft.

Properties

NITRILE RUBBER (NBR
It is the standard felt material preferred in many industrial applications. Its resistance to petroleum-based oils and hydrocarbons increases as the nitrile content increases (low, medium and high nitrile). But at the same time, the low temperature flexibility decreases with increasing nitrile content. The higher the Mooney viscosity, the higher the shear strength. It shows limited swelling in fuels and maintains good physical properties even when inflated. It is resistant to industrial oils and various greases. With some additives used, it can become more resistant to ozone and other outdoor effects. Despite its high polarity, water usually exerts a mild effect on nitrile vulcanizates. Usage temperature range: -40°C to +110°C

POLYACRYLIC RUBBER (ACM)
Resistant to petroleum based hydraulic oils, high pressure oils, hypoid oils, greases, oils with EP additives. In addition, it has very good resistance to high temperature, sunlight, ozone, outdoor aging. It is not suitable for use in dry conditions and in water. Low temperature performance is poor. Usage temperature range: -25°C to +150°C

FLORIZED RUBBER (FKM-FPM) VITON®
It is the most preferred elastomer material for working against high temperature, ozone and corrosive chemicals. High rpm is also suitable. Many aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, aircraft engine oils, greases, mineral oils, gasolines, corrosive fluids can also be reached at high temperatures of around 200°C. It is an expensive material. Not suitable for ketones, alcohols and strong acids. It is also not used for food and drug applications. Usage temperature range: -40°C to +250°C

SILICONE RUBBER (VMQ) (MVQ)
It can operate in an extremely wide temperature range. Its insulating property is very good. It can be used in food and pharmaceutical applications, especially special types of silicones are available for use in this area. Thanks to its oil absorption feature, it reduces friction, thus reducing wear. It can work in hot water. Tear resistance is low. Its resistance to aging, ozone and moisture is extremely high. It has good resistance to oils, but is not recommended for working in hydrocarbons and steam environments. The usage temperature range is generally between -50°C and +200°C, but there are special types of silicones that are resistant to temperatures of +300°C.

POLYURETHANE RUBBER (AU, EU)
It has high resistance to petroleum products, outdoor ozone, hydrocarbons, oils and water. It is a preferred material in the construction of shaft scrapers and hydraulic seals (nutring) due to its high resistance to abrasion, rupture, tearing and pressure. It is not resistant to acids and bases, ketones, hot water and steam. Can be used at high pressure. However, it is not suitable for high temperatures. Usage temperature range: -30°C to +90°C
