Hot-dip galvanized

Hot-Dip Galvanized

The purpose of the hot-dip galvanizing process is to make iron and steel products resistant to corrosion during their lifetime. Hot-dip galvanizing is the most technically efficient, high-quality, long-lasting and most economical coating method among metallic coatings applied on iron/steel materials.

Hot-dip galvanizing has been done for 250 years and is widely used in all areas of the industrial industry. Galvanized products have different lifetimes depending on the environmental conditions in which they are used. However, the lifetime of galvanized products is between 20 and 60 years without maintenance.

The main element in galvanization is zinc. Zinc is never found free in nature. It is a very hard metal and its density (7.14 gr/cm3) is slightly less than ferrous metal. Metallic zinc is very light bluish white in color and is around 0.004% in the earth's crust when all elements are taken into account. Hot-dip galvanizing is a coating method that consists of immersing suitable iron and steel products in a molten zinc bath at 450 °C.

Quality criteria in hot-dip galvanized coating process; micron thickness, homogeneity and stickiness of the coated zinc to the metal material surface. In order to ensure the coating quality specified in the standards, it should be ensured that the surfaces of the materials are clean and that the galvanizing coating processes are carried out under appropriate conditions.

Materials galvanized in our company in accordance with TSE 914 EN ISO 1461, ASTM A123/A123M, BS729, NF ISO 1461 norms are delivered to our customers after all tests required by these standards are applied within our company.

Hot-dip galvanized coating is a method that is used safely and increasingly all over the world, as it does not harm the environment, does not cause negative effects on human health and is an economical method.

It is indisputably the most preferred method, especially in steel construction products that are difficult to assemble and maintain (Energy Transmission Lines, power plants, large industrial facilities, guardrails, etc.).

It is very important for our economy to use galvanized products because the coating thickness can be controlled at the desired level, the integrity of the coating, aesthetic appearance, long life, and maintenance-free.

As Kartal Metal Galvaniz, we continue to serve all kinds of iron/steel products with the highest quality and the most affordable prices in our production line, which we have revised as of December 2009.

After our renewed system, our galvanized crucible has reached the dimensions of Length = 7,50m X Width = 1,10 m X Height = 1,80m.

WHY HOT DIP GALVANIZED

  1. Compared to iron, the rate of corrosion of zinc is quite slow,
  2. Provides electrolytic protection,
  3. Zinc plating and the underlying iron-zinc alloy layers provide durability and strength,
  4. When necessary, painting the zinc coating is cheaper and more durable, generally maintenance-free for 15-25 years in field conditions and light industrial conditions.

Hot-dip zinc coatings maintain their durability for a long time in environments with low concentrations of sulfur dioxide and other industrial pollutants. These coatings also perform satisfactorily in most marine related fields.

APPS
Galvanized coatings are mainly applied on iron and steel base metal in order to obtain a protective layer against corrosion. Some important application areas of hot-dip galvanized coating are:

  1. Structural steel in power generation plants, petrochemical plants, heat exchangers, cooling coils, electricity distribution towers and poles,
  2. Electrical conduits, coiled steel pipes and elbows,
  3. Reinforcing steels for cooling towers, architectural concrete overlays, bridge surfaces exposed to chloride,
  4. Pole line equipment and railway electrical installation,
  5. Protective barriers on highway sides, high lighting installations, sign bridge structures,
  6. Harbor piles and rails,
  7. Grille, ladder and safety cages
  8. grounding elements

Hot-dip galvanization is widely used in the manufacture of towers and long-lasting, durable bolts. In short, hot-dip galvanized zinc coating is a standard, effective and economical protection method where steel is exposed to corrosion in air, soil or water.

Agents of Hot Dip Galvanizing
Lower costs
It has a low cost because it is applied using the shortest time and less labor among alternative coating methods, and it does not require maintenance and repair.
Long life
It is indispensable for the country's economy thanks to its service life of up to 60 years in different environmental and weather conditions.
Eco-Friendly
No harmful chemicals are used during the application phase. No hazardous waste is left to the environment. It eliminates the negative effects of steel on human health as a result of corrosion. It is an environmentally friendly application.
Holistic Coating
Since the steel material is immersed in the molten zinc crucible, all internal, external and invisible surfaces of the material are coated with zinc, thus creating a holistic coating.
Great Resistance to Mechanical Forces
In hot-dip galvanizing, zinc forms a metallurgical bond with the steel material and penetrates into the steel, in this case, the galvanized steel shows a great resistance against the mechanical stresses it will be exposed to.
Cathodic Protection
Due to the cathodic protection feature of zinc, scratches on galvanized steel are protected by self-closing.
