Chromate Coating

The chromate layer is a very special film coating on aluminum. It is made to increase the resistance of aluminum against corrosion, to obtain a colorful appearance, and to increase the adhesion of the paint.

All types of chromate coating can be done by dipping or spraying. A coating of 0.2 - 2.0 gr/m² on aluminum is sufficient. Excessive coating thicknesses do not increase the quality and may cause brittleness. Coating thickness depends on time, bath concentration and temperature.

As the thickness of the film layer increases, corrosion resistance and electrical contact resistance increase. It ranges in color from colorless to dark yellow to brown.
