It has been made compulsory by law in some places where people are in mass. These can be listed as shopping malls, schools, workplace health and safety units (OSGB) established in certain sized workplaces or joint health and safety units (OSGB).

Performing first aid procedures and basic medical interventions often prevents larger health problems from occurring. Often times it can be lifesaving. It is very important to make the right interventions with medical products until the injured or sick person arrives by an ambulance or is taken to a health institution. Thanks to these materials kept in the infirmary , the first aid needed can be provided more easily. The infirmary also ensures that the patient can rest and be kept under surveillance.
