LABORATORY AND QUALITY CONTROL TESTS

Laboratory And Qualıty Control Tests

1. SALT TEST

The neutral salt spray test is the most widely used test method to determine the corrosion performance of coatings and paints. The test time can vary from 8 to 3000 hours depending on the type of coating. Depending on the ASTM B 117 standard, a 5% sodium chloride (NaCl) solution in deionized water with a solid solution of not more than 200 ppm and a Ph value between 6.5 and 7.2 is sprayed into the container to create a corrosive environment similar to a marine atmosphere. According to the same standard, it is carried out by keeping the temperature of the salt spray test cabinet closed at 35 ± 2 °C in the parts of the cabinet exposed to the test environment.

With this test, the corrosion behavior of many coatings and materials can be compared and provides a prediction about their performance in real life.

2. XRAY ( X-RAY FLUORESCENCE SPECTROSCOPY)

X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) spectroscopy is one of the important methods used to determine elemental composition.

With X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer;

Oxides of major elements such as Si, Al, Ti, Mn, Mg … in percent (%) by weight (MnO, MgO …)
trace elements such as Rb, Ba, Sr…,
Transition elements such as Cr, Ni, Co, Cu and Zn,
Rare earth elements such as La, Ce, Pr, Nd … can be analyzed at ppm level.
Makes quantitative analysis of elements with atomic numbers between 9 and 92. It cannot study elements with atomic number less than 9. It is not sensitive enough in the degree of chemical bond. XRF generally operates at 50kV and 50mA.

In our structure, XRAY;

In determining alloy ratios in alloy coatings,
In determining the coating type in sample samples whose coating type is unknown,
It is used in the quantitative analysis of metal compounds in metal plating baths.
3. SURFACE ROUGHNESS MEASURING DEVICES

Surface profile meters are electronic handheld measuring devices that measure the surface roughness of sandblasted surfaces.

The PosiTector SPG surface profile meter measures and stores high and low peak values of surface height. With its rapid measurement of more than 50 measurements per minute, the surface profile measuring watch is ideal for fast and accurate measurement of roughness on large surfaces. Moreover, the measured values measured in the surface profile are constantly displayed and updated. The surface profile is protected against acid, oil, water and dust and is therefore also suitable for rough use. After the surface profile flip indicator is calibrated to zero, the profile is measured, the surface profile counter gauge measures and records the difference between peak and trough.

Our MAHR roughness measuring device can measure the following parameters;

Ra: Arithmetic mean deviation
Rz (JIS): Average of 5 high and 5 low points
Rt: Sum of maximum height and maximum depth for the entire measuring length
Rq:The black root of the arithmetic mean deviations can be measured.
4. HULL-CELL TESTER

Hull Cell is a miniature coating container. It is used to produce coatings that exhibit all the properties of electroplating at all current densities in the operating range. It is the most important test available for the control of coating baths. The positive and negative effects of the additives in the bath give the coating operator important results and values regarding impurities, metallic contamination and removal, such an analysis and control cannot be made with any other method. Practically every coating bath can be controlled to varying degrees with the Hull Cell Test unit.

5. COATING AND PAINT THICKNESS METERS

Coating-paint thickness measurements can be made in paint and coating types applied to magnetic or non-magnetic materials.

6. PAINT BRIGHTNESS MEASURING DEVICE

Using state-of-the-art design and manufacturing techniques, the Elcometer 480 gloss meter has the ability to reliably measure and record Luminance, % Reflectance and Turbidity on any material, including paint, plastic, ceramic or metal.

7. CROSS-CUT and ADHESION TEST EQUIPMENT

The Cross Cut Adhesion Test Kit is used to test the adhesion strength by making a series of cuts on the dry paint films on the applied surface. A pattern consisting of 25 or 100 squares is created with 2 series of parallel scratches drawn at right angles to each other. After treating the scratched area with a brush or adhesive tape for hard surfaces, it is classified by comparison with the rubric.

8. IMPACT TEST

Impact Test Apparatus is an apparatus for determining the impact resistance and flexibility of paints and coatings.

9. BEND TEST

It is a robust bending tester used to determine the elasticity, adhesion and elongation properties of cured coatings on sheet metal.

10. TDS METER

A TDS meter is a device that displays the total dissolved solids (TDS) of a solution, ie the concentration of dissolved solid particles. It is used to control the water used in coating baths and used as washing water.

11. COATING UNIT WEIGHT TEST

The coated test plates are weighed and noted.
Then, the coatings are removed in the following solutions until they reach a constant weight.
The test plates whose coating is removed are weighed again.
The weight of the coated plate is found by subtracting the weight of the uncoated plate. This value is used in the evaluation.
