Description: By measuring and mapping the voltage potential present in concrete, you can quickly identify the presence of corroded reinforcing steel without the costly and time-consuming destruction of concrete. This is done by recording the voltage between the reinforcing steel mapped within the surface of the concrete and the half-cell. Highly corroded areas of rust will show voltages significantly lower than areas of non-corrosion so that wear areas of reinforcing steel in concrete can be quickly detected. There is no need to know the exact position of the reinforcing steel or the amount of spacers, the presence of the steel is all that is required. However, the voltmeter must be attached to an exposed part of the reinforcing steel mesh and any surface material should be removed as the concrete is tested.
