It is in the group of materials with high chemical resistance. It is a slippery material with a low coefficient of friction. Moisture absorption is close to zero. Polyethylene is divided into types within itself. It is the length of their molecules (molecular weight) that determines the species:

PE 300-HD (Easy to weld)
PE 500-HMW
PE 500 Reg. (only Black, Green color)
PE 1000-UHMW (High abrasion resistance)
PE 1000 Reg. (only Black, Green color)

Significant increases in wear resistance occur as the molecular weight increases. Said abrasion resistance is the resistance to be formed when the plastic is rubbed with a smooth metal surface.
