Zinc phosphating is preferred in conditions that require higher corrosion resistance than iron phosphate. Zinc phosphate coating can be used with underpainting, cold drawing and protective oil. If zinc phosphate is to be applied under paint, it is required to make a 2-6 gr/m2 coating on the metal part. There is no need to apply a higher amount of coating. Parts to be cold formed in the wire and tube drawing industry require a higher amount of coating. A zinc phosphate coating of approximately 5-15 gr/m2 will be sufficient. If the metal part is to be coated with thick zinc phosphate, the coating thickness can be up to 15-35 gr/m2. After the high amount of phosphate coating, the parts enter the protective oil bath and a long-term resistance to corrosion is provided.
