AFC, anti-friction coating, as the name suggests, are surface coatings that prevent friction and provide lubricity. The aim is to reduce the negative and damaging effects of the dynamic force acting on the surface by reducing the friction coefficient as much as possible on moving surfaces.
If the oil film formed by the speed, oil viscosity and surface geometry in the operating system is insufficient to lift the weight to be carried in the system, hydrodynamic lubrication conditions cannot be met and surface contact becomes inevitable.
During this contact, on the surfaces; Serious damages such as boiling wear, breakage wear, repetitive motion wear, corrosion wear caused by vibration, pitting (grooving wear) etc. can occur. In particular, during lapping (newly produced machine parts getting used to each other), During cold start (restarting the machine system that was stopped at operation after a certain period of time), During vibratory operation (working at high frequency), It is not possible to reduce the friction coefficient and prevent damage by efficiently separating the oil film and surfaces from each other in very high load, low or medium speed operating systems.
In this case, AFC (Solid Film Coating) technology provides excellent results in these stems. Based on the “Dry Film – solid film lubrication” principle, AFC industrial coating applications form very thin film layers (5-15 microns) with a very low friction coefficient but excellent load resistance on the surfaces, protecting the part surfaces against both wear, the bad effects of heat, and corrosion, By protecting against both aggressive chemicals and effects such as radiation, it offers all the required conditions for the system to serve for long periods of time without any problems.
Active solid lubricant materials almost eliminate the loss of parts from opposing surfaces as they completely prevent surface contact during reciprocating motion and minimize friction. This is clearly demonstrated in the following figure.
