Emergency: Events that require emergency response, struggle, first aid or evacuation such as fire, explosion, natural disaster that may occur in the whole or part of the workplace.
Emergency plan: It is a plan that includes information and practical actions, including the work and actions to be taken in emergency situations that may occur in the workplace.
WHAT ARE THE EMPLOYER'S OBLIGATIONS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY LAW Nr. 6331, REGARDING EMERGENCY PLANS, FIRE FIGHTING AND FIRST AID?
(1) Employer;
a) Taking into account the working environment, materials used, work equipment and environmental conditions, it evaluates in advance the emergencies that may occur, determines possible and probable emergencies that may affect the employees and the working environment, and takes preventive and limiting measures for their negative effects.
b) Makes the necessary measurements and evaluations in order to be protected from the negative effects of emergencies, and prepares emergency plans.
c) Considering the size of the workplace and the special hazards it carries, the nature of the work performed, the number of employees and other persons in the workplace in order to combat emergencies; It assigns a sufficient number of people who are appropriately equipped and trained in prevention, protection, evacuation, fire fighting, first aid and similar issues, provides the tools and materials, makes the training and drills and ensures that the teams are always ready.
ç) Makes the necessary arrangements to ensure communication with organizations outside the workplace, especially in the fields of first aid, emergency medical intervention, rescue and fire fighting.
It is prepared for all workplaces by following the stages of identifying emergencies, starting from the design or establishment phase, taking preventive and limiting measures for their negative effects, determining the persons to be assigned, establishing emergency response procedures, documentation, drills and renewal of the emergency plan.
Emergencies that may occur in the workplace are determined by considering the following points:
a) Risk assessment results.
b) The possibility of fire and explosion.
c) Incidents requiring first aid and evacuation.
ç) The probability of natural disasters to occur.
d) Possibility of sabotage.
