Occupational health and safety can be defined as the studies carried out to protect from conditions that may harm health during the execution of the working process in the workplace and to prevent possible damages. The objectives of the occupational health and safety studies; to protect employees, to ensure production safety and to ensure operational safety.
In order to reduce occupational accidents, significant changes have been made in the labor legislation in recent years regarding the provision that workers who have not received vocational training on occupational safety education will not be employed in heavy and dangerous works.
In this context, as of 01.01.2009, workers who have not received vocational training on occupational safety training will not be employed in heavy and dangerous works. It entered into force on 26.05.2008 through the Amendment of the Labor Law No. 5763 and Some Laws. According to the legislation, employees are required to receive vocational training and occupational health and safety training in order to be able to work in heavy and dangerous jobs.
According to ILO, 78% of occupational accidents are caused by unsafe behavior of workers and according to researches; 98% of work accidents are caused by human error. It is possible to prevent this 98% of occupational accidents caused by human error with occupational safety trainings.
